Native Plant Terrarium Workshop

Have you ever wished you could bottle up a plot of lush summertime forest to enjoy on a rainy day? Now is your opportunity! Learn about closed-system terrariums and the Indiana native plants we will use to create them. Each participant will build their own enclosed ecosystem featuring a selection of native plants and leave with the knowledge and tools to care for them. This workshop will last approximately 2 hours and has a supply fee of $20, which will cover instruction, all materials, and plants.

Read Me a Story is a traditional library storytime in the Children's area.
Read Me a Story is a less noisy program with individual play, so it has a TURTLE sensory and activity level: low noise with focused, calm activity.

This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of READ, PLAY, SING, TALK, and WRITE which are essential habits for getting ready to read, as determined by the American Library Association's Every Child Ready to Read program.

Tea Lab

Interested in learning more about tasseology, or the study of “tea”? What non-tea plants can be used that grow wild in the state of Indiana? Come to the Mounds State Park Nature Center and learn about the ancient art of herbal infusions. Supply fee of $15.00 will cover the cost of materials, instruction, light refreshments, and materials to make your own tea blend. Instruction will last 1 ½ hours. Come to the Mounds State Park Nature Center to learn more about what an eclipse is (both solar and lunar), how to view them safely, and other out of this world information! Get prepared for the Great American Solar Eclipse on April 8, 2024. Program is presented by Dan Malone of the Muncie Astronomy Club and member of the Friends of Mounds State Park. Seating is limited to 60 people per session, so come early!
