The Community Event Calendar is managed by the South Madison Community Foundation as a tool to support nonprofit and community organizations in their efforts to create a more vibrant and connected community.

AU Filmmakers Camp

Anderson University 1100 E. 5th St., Anderson

This is an extraordinary and innovative week-long introduction to the profession of filmmaking designed especially for high school students. The unique program was developed by the Anderson University Communication Arts faculty. It is sponsored and held at Anderson University in Anderson, Indiana.

It is not necessary to have any experience in filmmaking in order to benefit from this unique program. Classes are designed to provide practical skills and experience for all high school students.

Ages: High school age students, 14-18
Dates: June 3-8, 2024
Times: This is an overnight camp.
Tuition: Early Bird Registration is $550 by April 14, 2024. Tuition after April 14 is $650.
Check-in: Monday, June 3 from 4-6 p.m.
Check-out: Saturday, June 8 at 12 p.m.

Stephen T. Jackson will present "The History of Boone and Duck Creek Townships" a 16 part series based on his book "If the River Could Talk, Stories of the White River in Madison County". This 16 part series is being touted as part of the America 250 Celebration.

Summer Sight Reading Series

Musicians of all instruments with at least one year of experience are invited to come sight read some music together and make some new friends.

Community people meeting together to sponsor, support and improve our town.
Activities to achieve our mission:
We are the founders of the Village Fair. We work each year to organize and host our town’s most anticipated annual event.
Proceeds of the Lapel Village Fair and Indiana State Fair Dairy Barn have been used in the following:
Installation of 58 street lights on Lapel's Main Street.
American and Bulldog flags and Christmas decorations on the street lights.
We provide donations to:

If interested in joining the Lapel Community Association, meetings are usually the first Wednesday of the month at Lapel Stony Creek Fire Department. We are dark the months of December, January and February.
