Anderson Symphony Orchestra's Halloween concerts are a local treasure.
As is ASO tradition, the orchestra and conductor will be dressed in their finest Halloween attire. All music will be animal-related, as ASO teams up with the Animal Protection League and the Anderson Humane Society for a program that will include a kids’ costume parade. Maestro Sowers’ Boston Terrier, Daisy, will make a cameo appearance.
Lapel American Letion RIders are sponsoring the second annual Golf Cart Parade in Lapel. Assembly will take place in the high school parking lot. The parade will follow Lapel emergency equipment including fire truck and ambulance through town and will end at the Lapel American Legion Post, where prizes will be awarded to the best-looking golf carts and best-dressed children. Youngsters will be able to enjoy the slide and other entertainment. Legion riders will offer hot dogs and other snack food. Children 11 and younger can eat for free. Anyone with a standard golf cart can participate in the parade, and all can participate in the fun!
Storytime is designed for children 6. Come visit for a story, snack, songs, crafts and playtime. Halloween costumes are encouraged!
Be alert for extra small pedestrians during Trick-or-Treat hours in Lapel. Lights on? Treats on!
Don your costume and join the strolling party throughout the Pendleton Historic District, a hometown tradition that's still going strong. A portion of Broadway is blocked to traffic to safely accommodate the larger than average crowds.
Candlelight yoga will use a gentle, flow style class that focuses on breathing and light stretching. It is the perfect way to end your day and wind down before bed. Free to attend.
"The Game Corner" features a friendly video game tournament for teens in grades 6-12. Recent game selections include Nintendo Switch Sports, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, TowerFall, and Rocket League.
Read Me a Story is a traditional library storytime in the shade of the Lapel Branch greenspace.
Read Me a Story is a less noisy program with individual play, so it has a TURTLE sensory and activity level: low noise with focused, calm activity.
This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of READ, PLAY, SING, TALK, and WRITE which are essential habits for getting ready to read, as determined by the American Library Association's Every Child Ready to Read program.
