The South Madison Community Event Calendar was created to help keep our small towns strong, even as we grow. The Community Event Calendar is managed by the South Madison Community Foundation as a tool to support nonprofit and community organizations in their efforts to create a more vibrant and connected community.

Bicentennial Birthday Bonanza

Dickmann Plaza, downtown Anderson Anderson

Bicentennial Birthday Bonanza: a bicentennial “signature event” will occur with a county-wide community “birthday bash” in downtown Anderson. The event will feature entertainment, food and other refreshments, fun activities for kids and families, and displays about Madison County’s history. It will be preceded on the same day with a community gospel and spiritual music concert at the Paramount Theatre. All churches in the county will be invited to participate.

Candlelight yoga is the perfect way to end your day. A gentle flow class focuses on breathing and light stretching. We will have some mats and props available for use. Please plan to stay with us post-yoga for some herbal tea and conversation. Space is limited to 18 on a first-come, first-served basis.

Read Me a Story is a traditional library storytime in the shade of the Lapel Branch greenspace.

Read Me a Story is a less noisy program with individual play, so it has a TURTLE sensory and activity level: low noise with focused, calm activity.

This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of READ, PLAY, SING, TALK, and WRITE which are essential habits for getting ready to read, as determined by the American Library Association's Every Child Ready to Read program.
