The South Madison Community Event Calendar was created to help keep our small towns strong, even as we grow. The Community Event Calendar is managed by the South Madison Community Foundation as a tool to support nonprofit and community organizations in their efforts to create a more vibrant and connected community.

Read Me a Story is a traditional library storytime in the shade of the Lapel Branch greenspace.
Read Me a Story is a less noisy program with individual play, so it has a TURTLE sensory and activity level: low noise with focused, calm activity.
This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of READ, PLAY, SING, TALK, and WRITE which are essential habits for getting ready to read, as determined by the American Library Association's Every Child Ready to Read program.
The Grand Finale of the Madison County Bicentennial year celebrations marks the to-the-day anniversary of the county's formation.
Music performances by the Rock Bottom Boys and Austin Morgan will be featured and a special documentary on the contributions of the Black community to Madison County history will highlight the event. Guest speakers include Madison County Historian Stephen Jackson, the mayors of Madison County's three cities, and a representative of the Madison County Commissioner's office. Highlights of the bicentennial year will be shown. The event is free and open to the public.

Welcome, history of Memorial Square, raising of the flags by an Honor Guard, national anthem and Pledge of Allegiance, invocation, Roll Call of fallen heroes, recognition of Veterans in attendance, and guest speaker. 100 flags to be distributed.
