The Community Event Calendar is managed by the South Madison Community Foundation as a tool to support nonprofit and community organizations in their efforts to create a more vibrant and connected community.

We can also perform secure data destruction on your old equipment for you for a small fee per device.

Read Me a Story is a traditional library storytime in the Children's area.
Read Me a Story is a less noisy program with individual play, so it has a TURTLE sensory and activity level: low noise with focused, calm activity.
This program emphasizes the early literacy activities of READ, PLAY, SING, TALK, and WRITE which are essential habits for getting ready to read, as determined by the American Library Association's 'Every Child Ready to Read' program.

We are thrilled to invite you to our Breast Cancer Awareness Event on October 5th from 9 am to 12 pm at the Anderson Impact Center. This event is an opportunity for our community to come together and show support for those whose lives were affected by breast cancer.
The event will begin with a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk. We encourage you to invite others from your organization to join us in walking to demonstrate the importance of this cause.
If you want a long-sleeved awareness shirt, please submit your $20 payment by September 27th to the Minority Health Office.
After the walk, you'll have the chance to showcase your services and products to a diverse group of attendees and network with other like-minded individuals.
We will also host a brunch featuring Anderson's Highland High School Tennis Star, Ashlee Davis-Brooks, who will share her impactful story and journey in the fight against breast cancer.
During the brunch we will recognize Breast Cancer Survivors. Please share any breast cancer survivor photos of yourself or a loved one, as we want to honor you.
Learn about pioneer life when the Bronnenbergs arrived in Indiana. Activities for all ages will be located on the Bronnenberg lawn. See food cooked over an open fire, try your hand at making butter, learn how to sew a button, pet a goat, and more.
Town Submitted Special Event: Pendleton Pride is a community festival to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community in Pendleton and the surrounding areas. Food, merchandise, and community outreach vendors will participate.

Local Purdue Alumni Club to hold fall dinner
ANDERSON — The Purdue Alumni Club of Anderson and Madison County will hold its fall dinner meeting at the Purdue Polytechnic Anderson facility, 1920 Purdue Parkway, Anderson.
Following dinner and a short business meeting, Trevor Foley, senior director of International Engagements and Alumni Travel with the Purdue for Life Foundation, will speak on the Purdue Travel Services.
A member of the Purdue for Life staff will be on hand at the dinner to answer questions about the alumni association.
Dinner begins at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8. The meal will have an Italian theme. The price for the meal is $15 for adults and $10 for those 12 and under.
Proceeds will go to the club’s scholarship fund. Purdue alumni as well as friends of Purdue are welcome. It should be a fun evening learning about travel opportunities alumni and friends have at their fingertips. Donations to the scholarship fund will not be refused.

It's a crochet club for teens! Anyone between the ages of 13 and 18 can join and all skill levels are welcome. Registration required.

Pendleton Falls Park is hosting Naked Heart Yoga for their 2024 Yoga Tour of Madison County. Join us at 10:30am on October 12th at the Large Shelter near the playground.
Slow down this season, connect with your present moment, and relax with a beginner friendly yoga class for adults and families (under 18 must have adult supervision) contact Naked Heart Yoga via email for questions.

Ready for Halloween Mounds State Park style? Join us October 18 to October 20 for Mounds Hoots and Howls Weekend. We will have a variety of night hikes available on Friday night (weather permitting). On Saturday, the Historic Halloween Festival explores the origins of Halloween traditions while celebrating "nostalgic" Halloween with games, pumpkin decorating, applebobbing, and of course...candy! There will be a costume contest parade where you can strut your spookiness around the park. Prizes will be awarded! Camping with us this weekend? Participate in the Campsite Decorating contest for prizes and bragging rights. Finish off your weekend on Sunday with a spooky themed program. More details will be announced as the event approached. Inaugural Gallery 119 Lunch and Learn Series.
Join restaurateur Teddi Mangas-Coon on (October 19th) (noon to 2) in the Gallery 119 kitchen to make your own pan of Greek Baklava! Perfect to freeze to share during the holidays!
We will each make a small pan of Baklava using 60 layers of filo dough, walnuts, pecans, plenty of butter, sugar and honey. All supplies will be provided. OPA!
While baking, bring a bagged lunch to enjoy. Coffee and water will be provided.
Class is limited to 10 people and plan to go for 2 hours together.

Mark your calendar! The State of South Madison County will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, from 6:30-8:30 PM. Vanessa Green Sinders, President and CEO of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, will be our featured speaker. Ms. Green Sinders will discuss the Indiana Chamber’s long-range economic development strategy for the state, Indiana Prosperity 2035 - A Vision for Economic Acceleration. Where do our Halloween traditions, scary monsters, and funeral processes come from? Join us for a private guided tour of Bronnenberg home to hear the history of a Halloween! The private tour is on Wednesday, October 30th at 6:30pm. Space is limited! You must register in advance to join the tour. $10 per person. It's a town-wide candy party, and you're invited. Don't miss the fire station and the historic center of it all along the brick street of Broadway in the Pendleton Historic District.
Watch for little pedestrians in cute, scary, or funny costumes as they take to the street of Lapel. Lights on for candy!
Visit all the decorated trunks filled with candy for trick-or-treaters.

A two-day Artisan Market will be held Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lapel Lions Club, 109 E. Fourth St., Lapel. There will be arts and crafts, handmade goods, wood working, food and more.
"Friday Night Frenzy" is a night designed specifically for 6th-8th graders. At our upcoming event there will be food, fun and Costume Contest!
We are looking to have the BIGGEST frenzy ever. So, grab your friends and your costume and come join the fun. Whichever grade has the most in attendance wins big that night And the golden bucket! Each Grade will also have a costume contest.
NO bloody or gory costumes please and nothing Inappropriate.

The 24th annual Keith Trent's Coats of Caring distribution is scheduled for Saturday, November 2, from 10am-1pm at Anderson High School, 4610 Madison Avenue. Coats of Caring offers a FREE winter coat to Madison County residents who need one. For safety reasons, attendees must remain in their vehicles at all times at this drive-thru event. You must be present at the event to receive a coat.
